What started as a strange late-night noise complaint ended with a lot more than just a quiet knock at the door.

The Salmon Arm RCMP say officers were called March 20 after reports of screaming and groaning from a room in a local Hotel. When no one answered the door, police entered with help from staff to check on the occupant.

Inside, officers found a 43-year-old man showing signs of drug impairment. RCMP allege they also spotted cash, small baggies, and a container consistent with drug trafficking.

Police say more than 100 grams of suspected cocaine, worth up to $10,000, along with $1,410 in cash and two cell phones were seized.

The man was arrested, held overnight to sober up, and later released.

Charges are being recommended to Crown.
