Crash Closes Highway 97A

February 25 2026 - Traffic has been brought to a standstill on Highway 97A between Sicamous and Grindrod following a Wednesday morning crash.
Emergency crews were called to the scene near Swansea Point Road shortly after 8:30 AM.
Firefighters, police and BC Ambulance attended. There have been no reports of serious injuries and the number of vehicles involved has not yet been confirmed.
The incident is affecting Highway 97A between Hutchison Road and Davidson Drive for approximately 0.2 kilometres.
The road is currently closed while an assessment is underway, with major delays expected and an extended closure anticipated before reopening.
The crash scene is located roughly five to six kilometres south of Sicamous.
This stretch of Highway 97A occasionally serves as an alternate route to Highway 1 while the new Bruhn Bridge is under construction.
Traffic control is being established at the scene.
