WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. – May 4, 2025 – A serious vehicle incident shut down a stretch of Highway 97 in both directions Sunday afternoon between Pinnell Road and Lynes Creek Road, approximately 9 to 10 kilometres north of Wildwood.

Emergency services responded around 2:00 p.m., and two air ambulances were dispatched, one from Prince George and another from Kamloops, to transport victims to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

The number of injured individuals has not been officially confirmed.

Unconfirmed reports from the scene suggest that the incident may have involved a fatality. It also appears, based on witness accounts, that no commercial vehicles were involved in the crash.

As of 5:00 p.m., the road remains closed with assessments ongoing. A detour is in place via Beaver Lake Road and Likely Highway, but commercial vehicles are not permitted to use the detour.

The Ministry of Transportation's next official update is expected at 6:00 p.m. PDT.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and monitor DriveBC for further information.
