BREAKING: Gas line rupture prompts evacuation in Armstrong residential neighbourhood
ARMSTRONG, B.C. September 30 2026 - Armstrong-Spallumcheen Fire Department crews responded just after noon Wednesday to a ruptured domestic natural gas line in the 3800 block of Atkinson Place.
Some residents in the immediate area were told to clear the vicinity as a precaution.
Firefighters established a perimeter around the scene while FortisBC was called to isolate the leak and make repairs. Some traffic disruptions should be expected.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the rupture has not been released at this time.
Atkinson Place is a residential street in Armstrong. Public are being asked to stay clear of the area until FortisBC and fire officials give the all-clear.
