Boil Water Notice Issued for Parts of Vernon

Crews Hard at Work After Major Watermain Break

December 30, 2025 Vernon, B.C. A precautionary Boil Water Notice is in effect for parts of Vernon following a large watermain break in the 18 Street and 20 Avenue area, according to Greater Vernon Water and the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO).

The notice applies to properties on 18 Street between Pottery Road and 23 Avenue, 21 Avenue, and some sections of Pottery Road. The break caused a loss of water pressure for some customers and increased turbidity, or cloudiness, in the water supply.

RDNO crews are repairing the break and flushing the system while water samples are collected to confirm safety.

Interior Health is working with the RDNO as part of the response.

Affected residents are advised to boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking, preparing food, brushing teeth, or making ice. Nearby properties experiencing cloudy water are also encouraged to follow the same precautions.

Video from the area shows water flowing along Highway 6 and Kalamalka Lake Drive, and the RDNO has released a map outlining the affected service area.

The Boil Water Notice will remain in place until test results confirm the water is safe.
