Vancouver Tornado?

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

November 6 2021

A rare waterspout was visible from UBC today. Along with the spectacular sight came high wind and hail. Environment Canada issued a tornado watch for a time but it has since been removed.

Extensive damage was caused by the high winds. Falling trees landed on cars, trees fell across roads and knocked out power. The UBC area was the hardest hit.

A weather warning for high winds remains in effect for the Strait of Georgia, Haro Strait, Juan de Fuca Strait, and exposed coastal sections of the west coast of Vancouver Island.

Strong southeast winds of 50 to 70 km are predicted except for exposed coastal sections of western Vancouver Island where winds will veer to the west at 70 to 90 km. The warning is in effect until Tuesday.

Here is a collection of the best videos captured of the "tornado" and high winds.

Thanks for the GREAT VIDEOS!
