A tall column of smoke believed to be a transient tent fire prompted calls to 911.
The calls came in around 9:30 AM on December 21, 2023.
BX Swan Lake Fire Rescue responded. Fortunately, the smoke was coming from a malfunctioning homemade stove. Crews quickly extinguished the small blaze.
The fire was located at a growing transient camp on the west side of Highway 97 near the 27th Street exit.
