On Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, RCMP in Vernon responded to a report that a man who had overdosed was in possession of a loaded firearm.
The report came in around 5:30 that morning from a passerby who came to the aid of a man apparently suffering from a drug overdose in the 4500 block of 27th street.
The weapon, reportedly a .22 handgun and a clip, was said to be strapped to the 23-year-olds body under his coat.
The responding RCMP officer revived the man with a dose of nasal naloxone before he was transported to hospital.
The man was released from custody and faces a number of potential firearms-related charges.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
