The Vernon Canadian Tire store in the Village Green Mall on 27th has been closed due to fire since November 19th. At first, it was hoped the damage was superficial, confined to the outside of the building, but 10 days later that doesn't appear to be the case.
The last official word was Friday, November 25th, 2022:
"We’re working hard to re-open the store as soon as possible to serve the community of Vernon - We’re eager to welcome you again."
It's speculated the fire may have activated the store's sprinkler system adding water damage to the list of fire and smoke.
The company has not commented on the extent of the damage or given an official reopening date.
On Tuesday, November 29th cleanup was still underway in the outdoor garden/seasonal area where the fire burned brightest.
In the parking area outside the Canadian Tire store, a large area has been fenced off for contractor vehicles and supplies possibly an indication of the extent of the damage.
