Updated: Jun 22, 2023

A member of the public alerted Vernon RCMP they had discovered a body late Wednesday afternoon.

In a press release, RCMP Constable Chris Terliski stated,

"Based on the preliminary investigation, no criminality is suspected at this time, and the BC Coroners Service is conducting an independent and concurrent fact-finding investigation to determine how, where, when, and by what means the person came to their unexpected death."

Reports indicate that the RCMP are investigating, but so far there are no signs the death was the result of criminal activity.

The wooded area is in a ravine just southeast of Highway 6 and Pottery Road. A small stream runs through the area.

A steep bank littered with garbage such as tires and concrete blocks is the only way to access the area the body was discovered.

The body may have been in the ravine for some time before it was reported.
