Since it was first discovered on July 13th, the White Rock Lake fire has defied attempts to bring it under control.
The wildfire has grown overnight,
The smoke that has settled over many parts of southern BC is hampering efforts to attack the fire from the air. The heavy smoke also affects power lines in the area causing power outages.
Reports indicate Monty Lake has been hit hard by the wildfire. The communities General Store and other structures may have been destroyed.
Properties in the area are under an evacuation order. New evacuation alerts and orders are being issued and updated as conditions change.
