August 27, 2024 – The closure of Husband Road to Kalamalka Road remains in effect as the District of Coldstream awaits a Site Alteration Permit necessary for the ongoing construction. The project involves replacing the road surface within an identified archaeological zone, requiring approval from the Provincial Archaeology Branch.
While the Branch has agreed to expedite the permit process, no timeline has been provided. In the interim, the District is allowed to apply dust abatement measures and will monitor dust conditions closely.
Children go back to school September 3
The closure may affect school bus routes if it extends into September. School District 22 will notify families of any changes to routes. Weekly updates will be provided unless new information emerges.
Despite the road closure, the Kalamalka Beach parking lot is still accessible via Middleton Way to Husband Road and Highway 6. The District appreciates the community's patience during this time.
