Earlier this month, on Thursday May 16, 2024, around 8:10 PM, Vernon RCMP responded to a disturbance call on 58th Avenue.
Police report a terminated employee, angered by his dismissal, allegedly attempted to physically assault a store manager. RCMP report the situation escalated when the employee brandished a knife stolen from within the premises, threatening the manager's safety.
Luckily, the manager managed to flee.
The alleged suspect attempted to escape in a taxi but was denied service. He then fled on foot but was apprehended by police.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
A 37-year-old Vernon man is now facing charges of assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
