UPDATE:
Vernon RCMP have released information regarding the incident at Justice Park and the street in front of the Vernon Public Library.
Media Relations Officer Vernon North Okanagan RCMP:
"On Friday, June 23rd, 2023, around 6:30 a.m., emergency personnel from the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, and Vernon Fire Rescue Services were called to the 3000-block of 27th Street in Vernon where a person was found badly burned. The adult victim suffered what are believed to be serious, life threatening injuries, and has been transported for medical treatment."
Although the RCMP has not disclosed the specific details surrounding the victim's injuries, investigators strongly suspect that the person sustained their injuries within Justice Park.
The Serious Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services continue to collect evidence supporting the investigation and will be canvassing local businesses for any video surveillance.

Original Story: Vernon RCMP are investigating an early morning incident that left a trail of blood from Justice Park to the Vernon Library located at 30 Ave and 28th Street.
Yellow police tape has been placed around Justice Park and the library entrance area.
RCMP officers halted traffic on 30th Avenue to capture photographs of the blood trail.
The Vernon Library was temporarily closed to allow for the collection of evidence.
Within Justice Park, behind the police tape, evidence markers were visible near what seemed to be personal belongings.
Items included a blue tarp, a backpack, a plain cardboard box, and what looks like an unlabeled paint can.
There is also what appears to be burnt clothing and a dark burn patch on the ground
No information regarding the victim or injuries is currently available.
