Quebec Reverses COVID Vaccine Mandate

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

Quebec Heath Minister Christian Dube' said current health care workers will no longer be required to get the COVID-19 vaccination.

The Minister admitted some will not be happy with this decision.

The announcement came as a November 15th vaccine mandate for Heath Workers approached. The minister said at a press conference yesterday suspending workers who didn't have the vaccine would have "devastating consequences".

According to the minister, approximately 500 health care workers would be lost, putting severe strain on the system.

New employees will have to be fully vaccinated.

Unvaccinated healthcare employees both public and private will have to be tested 3 times a week. As well they will not have access to COVID or retention bonuses. Those who refuse testing will be suspended without pay.

Quebec Heath Minister Christian Dube' sent a message to unvaccinated health care workers,

"You have a moral duty to protect the clients that you treat, and to protect your fellow citizens"

Presently 97% of Quebec health care workers are vaccinated
