A multi-vehicle accident on Coquihalla Highway 5 led to an overnight closure.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 pm on Monday, January 15th, 2024, several kilometers south of Box Canyon.
Unconfirmed reports suggest the accident involved multiple semis and a possible fatality.
Highway 5 was closed between Merritt Exit 286 and Portia Exit 202.
An 84-kilometer stretch of the Coquihalla was closed to redirect traffic.
Emergency responders were supported by Hope Search and Rescue.
Highway 5 reopened at 5:45 am on Tuesday, January 16th.
